NOTICE TO ALL: I first created a similar post like this in symbianize.com. I own the concept of this post and I am just reproducing it here in my blog.
Picture
FIRST STEP:
Check if it has write-protect switch...
  1. USB Standard, Male A-plug
  2. USB mass storage controller device
  3. Test points
  4. Flash memory chip
  5. Crystal oscillator
  6. LED (Optional)
  7. Write-protect switch (Optional)
  8. Space for second flash memory chip

SECOND STEP: Disable write-protection in the Registry...(1) In any version of Windows, do the registry trick. Copy this code in notepad and save it as anything.reg file

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies] "WriteProtect"=dword:00000000

(2) Open the file and click YES to run it as ADMIN. Type administrator password if necessary.

THIRD STEP: Disabling write-protection using Diskpart

Open the command prompt by pressing Win+R and type "cmd.exe" without quotation. You may need to run cmd.exe with administrator privileges if you see an “access is denied” message. Right-click on the shortcut and choose Run as administrator. In Windows 8, simply choose Command prompt (admin). Now, type the following, pressing Enter after each command:
  • diskpart
  • list disk
  • select disk x (where x is the number of your flash drive)
  • attributes disk clear readonly
  • clean
  • create partition primary
  • format fs=fat32
  • exit
FOURTH STEP: USB Device ID, Device Vendor and Product Model.

Introducing CHIP GENIUS 2013 UTILITY...

How to use:
1- plug in your corrupt flash drive to your computer usb port
2- open Chip Genius program (make sure you are connected to the internet)
3- look for the format tool provided by chip genius if there's any. If there is, download the tool and format your flash drive using it. Administrator privilege must be required on some tools. If there's none, you may proceed to the next steps.

FIFTH STEP: Use my pre-downloaded collection of Formatting Tools
Choose from my collection of FORMAT TOOLS. Check the manufacturer of your flash drives and see wether there is already an available software I already downloaded for you.

HP USB Disk Format tool: http://www.tusfiles.net/8ztakadhzpvi

TIP: Before using any other format tools said above... try FIRST the Low Level Format Tool...

Picture
How to use Low-Level Format Tool

Step 1: insert flash drive in USB port A (wherein port A is not equal to port B...)

Step 2: Run Low Level Format Tool Portable with Admin Privileged... click CONTINUE FOR FREE>>SELECT YOUR FLASH DRIVE (backup files first if necessary) >>click CONTINUE>>find and click the "LOW-LEVEL-FORMAT>>check Perform quick wipe>>click FORMAT THIS DEVICE>>click YES

Step 3: If unsuccessful like that of the 2nd picture shows, Safely remove your flash drive and insert it in USB port B (wherein port A is not port B). Repeat step 2-3 until it works...if for 5 trials it did not work, try the other format tools listed in my collection.

Hope it would work for you (because 50% of the flashdrives I fixed works tru this method)...If not, then choose from my collection of formatting tools...try and try until you succeed po... there is no harm in trying one by one as long as your flashdrive is detected by the chosen format tool . EXPERIMENT SO THAT YOU LEARN

SIXTH STEP: Search for the tool manually...

If non of the above formatting tools works for your flashdrive, then I'm sorry to say but you will do the hard part...

(1) Go to this website: http://flashboot.ru/iflash/
NOTE: This is a German site so you might want to use google translate for easier understanding

(2) Fill up the following...
1- VID , Put your corrupt flash drive VID as you get it from Chip Genius
2- PID , Put your corrupt flash drive PID as you get it from Chip Genius
3- Click on the icon beside PID (SEARCH)

4- Find any tool that corresponds to your flashdrive manufacturer, size, etc. Copy the name of the software to the clipboard (ctrl+C)

5- Google Search it... then Download.

After you download it ,open it .You will find the corrupt flash disk recognized in the program ,press start and wait after the program is finish fixing. THIS STEP IS VERY TRICKY... MOST OF THE TIME YOU MIGHT WANNA USE COMMONSENSE :D

you forgot to type at YOUR description this: PQI low level format will erase for good aprrox 18-30 % from your USB / HDD.. for example a 16 Gb usb pen-drive ( aka USB flash ) after the format with PQI...the total size will be at 10 - 11 Gb !!!

so, beware if you want to format a 1.35 T - 3 T

a better program is active kill disk

From what you can see of the write switch protected flash drive, is it possible to add such a switch to an external hard drive enclosure?
